Four-box net project

Four-Box Net 532

One polyomino of 532 squares that folds into four different boxes, using folds along grid lines only. Choose a box, then fold. Each colour is one face of the chosen box. Step-by-step mode folds one fold line at a time, from the middle of the strip outward, turning each flat panel as one rigid piece: the motion a rigid-paper simulation checked for collisions, with none found.

Checks

The net is a single staircase-shaped strip of 532 unit squares: connected, with no holes, and no two squares meeting only at a corner. Every box with surface area 532 was tested with three separate fold checkers. All three agree that it folds into 1×2×88, 2×4×43, 2×7×28 and 2×13×16, and into none of the other four boxes of that area. In every fold, neighbouring squares stay joined and the box surface is covered exactly once.

Drag to turn the model; scroll or pinch to zoom. The animation cycles through the four boxes.
